When they met.

Lauren and David met through Brittany Ryswyk, one of Lauren's bridesmaids, during the winter of 2008 while both were attending Indiana University (David - law school, Lauren – undergrad).  Coincidentally, they both relocated to Chicago after school.  They were reacquainted in Chicago the old fashioned way – by text message (to David's credit, he says he tried to call once before texting).  They had their first date on October 3, 2012.  Through his charismatic charm, contagious positive energy, and quirky humor (i.e., dogged persistence), David quickly won over Lauren's heart and they've been inseparable ever since.

The Proposal

On December 14th, 2013, Lauren threw David a surprise party for his 30th birthday.  Unbeknownst to anyone (including Tim Clark, who says he knew the whole time) he had planned on proposing that night with an intimate group of family and friends at what he thought would be a small dinner.  However, when he walked into his surprise party it ended up being the perfect opportunity.  Starting out by saying "Thank you everyone for coming - I actually have a surprise of my own, sorry but you're just going to have to sit through this." David turned to Lauren, got down on one knee and proposed in front of 50 of his closet friends and family, and also Ross Harwood.*

*David is still unsure if Lauren said yes or not, but he feels like she's is in too deep now.
